Artist: City of Four
City of Four’s Brown Bag concert performance will feature an all-original set of groove-based modern jazz fusion music comprised of new compositions from the band’s recent tour of the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic regions.
City of Four’s original brand of groove-based jazz fusion has been called a “cornucopia of jazz melodies,” (The Big Takeover) where “each member brings something unique to the table.” (Stamish Malcuss, Jazz Sensibilities) The music collective features the original compositions and improvisations of its four members in an electrified instrumental jazz combo format, merging modern jazz, funk, jazz-rock fusion, hip hop, and progressive rock. “When the jazz, funk and progressive styles come together it can be a beautiful thing.” (Rob Duguay, Rock n’Heavy) Mike Caudill (saxophone, EWI) formed the group with fellow Worcester County native Cat Tremblay (keyboards) when both musicians were students at UMass Amherst, and since then the duo has joined forces with top players in the Boston area.
